Gardening Articles - Fountains and Waterfalls
Written by Administrator

Water in motion is facinating to watch.  An easy way to add interest to your landscape is by installing a fountain or waterfall.

With traditional methods, installing the electrical equipment was tricky, expensive and potentially dangerous.

With modern solar technology, costs are radically less and voltages low and safe.

The model shown will pump 150 gallons per hour several feet uphill. With the battery and solar panel upgrade it will pump water 24/7 under most conditions and costs less than $500.  The daytime only model costs less than $250.

This means it is useful not only to make decorative fountains but also for water conservation projects.

One way to do this is to install rainbarrels to catch water during rainy days.   You can then use this pump to spray water on a surface to produce a cooling effect or pump it uphill and let if flow over flower beds or lawn areas.  This way you are turning runoff into a useful water resource and reducing stormwater that your local utility or neighbors have to deal with.
