Solar security lights provide and inexpensive and easy way to place some light where you need it when you need it.

Unlike most other lights, solar security lights have motion sensors so they only snap on when there is motion in the area they are "watching".  

The model show produces the same light as a 60 watt bulb and will work for a day or so even without sun.

Solar security lights are best for relatively low traffic areas.  If they snap on too often the solar panel won't be able to keep up and the batteries will eventually lose their charge.

Since this light only costs about $80, it is worth it to give solar a try before you call and electrician to run wiring for a traditional system. You will always find another spot where you can use some extra security lighting.
